Winemakers head for the hills

"Eaton harvested his first crop of grapes in 2001..... I was impressed with both wines. Their ripe dense flavours reflect tender loving care in the vineyard, if not in the winery..... I rate the cabernet/merlot/malbec as the best example of its type yet made in Marlborough and the pinot noir as amoung the regions best. Not a bad effort for "first crop" wines. I tasted barrel samples of Terravin 2002 pinot noir. That wine promises to be a knockout, although it won't be bottled for another 6 months. When serious Marlborough pinot noir makers taste it, they will head for the hills."
