TerraVin is situated on the East
Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Known for its rugged beauty and unspoiled environment this "Jewel in the Pacific"
is now known as a producer of world-class wine.
Situated just a 20-minute flight (3 hours by ferry) from New Zealand's
capital city of Wellington, Blenheim is Marlborough's principal town, boasting
a heady 25,000 odd population.
Marlborough is divided into four principal areas: the Central Wairau Valley,
off which to the south runs the Omaka Valley, Brancott Valley and Waihopai Valley. Further to the south, some further 25km away, is the Awatere Valley.
These sub-valleys to the Wairau have considerably lower rainfall and generally
cooler climates than the main Wairau Valley. They also gain appreciably in altitude
as you climb into the valley. It is here, half-way up the Omaka Valley, that
you will find TerraVin situated on its north-facing hillside.
TerraVin is 16km from downtown Blenheim, a 12-15 minute drive
or a leisurely bike ride through the valley's other wineries.
There is no winery on-site currently, but special tours of the vineyard can
be made by arrangement, or you could use one of Marlborough's specialist wine
tour operators.
