Wine Tasting Notes

Each vintage we select just the very best barrels that we think best reflect the pinnacle of character from both vineyard and vintage, this becomes the “Hillside Selection”
As we harvest in tiers down the hill, each year the ferments from the middle of the slope offer a delicacy and depth that is unsurpassed in other ferments. It is from these ferments that we chose those exceptional barrels that stay in oak to become the Hillside Selection.

Vintage Notes

2005 vintage was one of the latest springs of recent years and spring and early summer were cold. By end of December the season was 2 weeks behind so out came the secetuers and we reduced the crops by almost half. In the end Marlborough with its uncanny ability pulled off yet another “Indian summer” and with dry sunny weather we harvested one of the best vintages that I can recall since 1994.
