Vintage Notes
Terravin is based on the premise that there is a direct link between the land where a vine grows, the climate and the lives of the families that farm that land. We strive in both our viticulture and winemaking to preserve all that this embraces. The vineyard site is carefully chosen, then the clones and rootstocks chosen that best suit these soil types, the vines then cared for by hand and add my 25 years working in the local vineyards.
2008 vintage was one of the warmest of recent vintages. Pinot Gris tends toward over cropping so fruit thinning was essential removing over half of the crop pre veraison (vendage vert) and then removing more after veraison to ensure even ripeness and richness in the mid palate of the resulting wine. This also ensured we were harvested before the rains that spoiled the vintage for many in 2008.
