Wine Tasting Notes
Fruit was sourced from a single vineyard in the Southern Valley's of Marlborough where the soils are layered with gravels and seams of clay. It is these complex layers and the cooler evening temperatures that give optimal growing conditions for a more complex, rich and riper styled Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
This combined with lower yields, extended time on fine lees and a small percentage of wine fermented in seasoned oak and then aged for 4 months has given us a wine that combines the vibrant freshness of Marlborough Sauvignon with riper more complex characters that can be enjoyed by all.
Vintage Notes
Obviously low yields are a huge contributing factor to wine quantity in any year but in 2008 it became absolutely critical. With higher yields comes both dilution and later harvesting and many often get away with this in Marborough due to the extraordinarily generous autumn weather we recieive. But not in 2008
