"J" 2007 Magnum
Wine Tasting Notes
The "J" blend is made in honor of my wife Jo. When we planted our first vines here at TerraVin, Jo asked if we could please plant some of her favorite Bordeaux red varieties of grapes. I chose to plant these on the narrow west facing Terraces where they get maximum drainage and sun exposure in the hot Marlborough afternoon sun.
The vines are lavished with hand labour all season keeping the canopy even and lowering the vines yield to less than 800 grams per vine. The inclusion of a small proportion of Petit Verdot completes the Bordeaux quartet and lends a lovely floral elegance to the blend.
The result defies the expectations of wine writers the world over producing an intense, densely packed and yet elegant wine, with fine tannins more reminiscent of Pomerol than New World Bordeaux style wines.

Vintage Notes
2007 had a very cool start to the season and over the flowering period reducing potential yields and reducing berry size. While the summer warmed up there was little rain and the weather up to harvest was very warm and dry which has resulted in a wine with very good concentration ripe flavors and fine grained tannin.
Fruit was harvested by hand 20th -24th April 2007
